The Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses and the Acuvue TruEye lenses are similar contact lenses, but they are totally different when it comes to their comfort levels, price and specifications. The difference between these two types of lenses may not seem obvious at first as they’re both disposable dailies lenses. I love dailies lenses as they are easier to wear, cleaner and don’t require you to keep washing and storing the lenses after each day. As a person with sensitive eyes, it’s much easier to wear daily lenses! Acuvue is also known to make high-quality and comfortable lenses, so I was very curious to compare what it was like to wear two different models of their lenses.
Now, onto the review!
In terms of comfort, these two lenses are some of the most comfortable lenses that I’ve ever worn. However, I have to say that the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses beat the Acuvue TruEye ones in terms of moisture, softness and overall comfort levels. The best thing about the Acuvue 1 day Oasys lenses are that they’re really gentle on the eyes to wear. They’re really comfortable to wear for over 10-12 hours. I know you shouldn’t wear lenses for that long, but they’re absolutely great for times when you really need to wear contacts for the whole day. They are quite comfortable and very moisturising on the eyes, as the hydrogel really retains moisture without me having to use eye drops every other hour. Usually, eye drops are necessary for contact lenses but with theses Acuvue lenses, I don’t need to use any at all.
With the Acuvue TruEye lenses, I had to put eye drops in after a few hours which was reasonable but they were still extremely comfortable to wear all day. I think they were slightly drier in the sense that they didn’t retain as much moisture as the Oasys lenses.
The Acuvue TruEye lenses are made from a comfortable silicone hydrogel material, which is designed to retain moisture and feel extra soft on the eyes. It feels really high-quality and offers an additional level of UV protection, which is great! However, what I love most about the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses is that they are designed with a special HydraLuxe™ Technology to help keep your eyes feeling comfortable throughout the demands of your day. This daily contact lens has tear-like properties that work with your natural tear film each day, providing all-day performance and excellent comfort, vision and handling. It really works well to protect the eyes and prevent dryness, and they’re easily the best lenses that I’ve ever used.
As for the box and packaging, both types of lenses came in a beautiful box which could be opened from the side. This means that taking lenses out of the box is easy and fast, and I can store these with the minimum amount of space. The packaging is really well-designed and beautiful. They come with a base curve of 9.0 or 8.5, which suits people that have different eye shapes well. The packaging for the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses look slightly better in my opinion, as it’s a beautiful shade of blue.
This is where the Acuvue TruEye wins over the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses. The Oasys lenses are much more expensive than the TruEye ones, costing around SGD $72 for one box compared with SGD $56 for the latter. As price is important in terms of choosing lenses, I’d say that the Oasys is more pricey and probably more suited for working adults to wear due to the extra price. The Acuvue TruEye does its job well and is much more affordable. Although SG has discontinued this product, it is still available in the Hong Kong store.
I really like the Acuvue Oasys 1-Day lenses as they gave my eyes an extra layer of moisture and retained much more of my natural eye lubricant than the Acuvue TruEye lenses. Overall, it was also more comfortable and easy to wear. However, it is slightly more expensive so I think you get what you pay for!
